چکیده

This study aimed to evaluate the yield and chemical composition of essential oils from Croton blanchetianus Sida cordifolia, in addition investigating insecticidal potential these on adults bean weevil, Callosobruchus maculatus. To obtain oils, hydrodistillation method was adopted, using a Clevenger apparatus. The identification quantification constituents performed by means gas chromatography coupled mass spectrometry (GC-MS). For each oil, fumigation bioassays were C. Macullatus six concentrations, 0; 0,30; 0,48; 0,60 e 0,70 (µL/750 mL) for Blanchetianus. As oil S. concentrations applied 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 15 (µg/750 mL). carried out under constant conditions temperature (25 ± 2ºC) relative humidity (60% 10%). In tests, different strips filter paper (2x3 cm) attached bottom lid glass container (750mL), which contained 10 grams cowpea unsexed adult insects. Insect mortality evaluated 48 hours after treatments applied. Data submitted analysis variance regression analysis. When possible, lethal doses calculated 50 95% test population (LD50 LD95). blanchtianus 0.50%, higher than that obtained S.cordifolia, 0.03%. species blanchetianus, 20 components identified, with monoterpene eucalyptol being major compound (32.89%). sesquiterpene spathulenol (31.76%). bioassays, considerable activity observed maculatus adults, relatively low doses. used caused maximum 5.3% mortality, it not possible determine LD50 90 this species.

Insecticidal and repellent activity of typical monoterpenes from plant essential oils against Callosobruchus maculatus (Fabr. 1775)

Synthetic insecticides and repellents have been broadly used worldwide for the control of crop pests and insects acting as vectors of human disease. Despite effectiveness, synthetic insecticides or repellents may cause serious damages to the environment and consequently to humans and animals. The growing biotechnological investigation for alternative insecticides and repellents, particularly of...

Chemical composition and biological activity of Allium sativum essential oils against Callosobruchus maculatus

In order to search for alternative control methods to synthetic pesticides, the potential of essential oils from Allium sativum (L.) (Alliaceae); was evaluated as fumigants against Callosobruchus maculatus (fab.) (Coleoptera: Bruchidae), a pest that attacks pulses during storage. Chickpea seeds were infested with 10 pairs of newly emerged weevils and, fumigated with 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4μl of essent...

Insecticidal Activity and Chemical Composition of the Morinda lucida Essential Oil against Pulse Beetle Callosobruchus maculatus

Insecticidal activity of essential oil extracted from Morinda lucida was tested on pulse beetle Callosobruchus maculatus, which is a pest that causes serious damage to several pulses. The insecticidal activity was compared with two pesticides, Phostoxin and Primo-ban-20. 120 mixed sex adult C. maculatus were introduced, along with 30 g of cowpeas. Four concentrations (0.40, 0.20, 0.10, and 0.05...
